This is the second alpha pattern I have ever followed. I created a variation of one I found on
BraceletBook found here:
I immediately thought of another of my sisters. She loves mermaids. Loves! So, I figured it would be perfect alpha practice and a thoughtful gift. I chose colors I thought she would like.
Light Pink 3706
Dark Pink 3726
Light Orange 3771
Dark Orange 919
Light Green 3849
Dark Green 3847
Light Blue 794
Dark Blue 322
I followed this tutorial from Masha Knots to make the triangle ends.
It isn't the one she made for alphas, but the triangle ends for alphas didn't look good even after three attempts. I couldn't keep it tight enough in the middle, so it just looked bad. I had much more success with the ends she uses for normal patterns.
I realized after that I did do a couple things differently. One, I just went across with one color. I didn't try to keep creating a triangle of the scale pattern. Two, I only used the one string for all the knots, including the ones at the edges. This means that I didn't end up with a multicolored edge like Masha does. Three, I did both ends after completing the bracelet. I did the bottom one first and just kept going with one of the colors. Then I went back and joined in a new string to do the top triangle the same way while working the bracelet "upside down."
I followed this video to create the twisted ties:
Luckily the bracelet is fairly long because the ties are not. I estimated how long the base strings needed to be, and they ideally would have been longer. Between the triangle ends and the twisted ties, they were made much shorter than I anticipated. I was able to tie it on, but with some effort. If anything, I can become a really cute bookmark.
