A neighbor friend of mine is due to have a baby at the end of the month. She is a kind, giving person, and this will be her fourth little one. I wanted to do something for her, so I took a look through the different patterns at Daisy Farm Crafts. I wanted to use this almost tweed type of yarn, and I ended up finding a blanket that was really fun to make and turned out really cute!
The pattern is called Crochet Even Polka Dots Blanket. Simple half double crochet variants and puff stitches. I ended up using this yarn in sweet pink: loops and threads flecks. Because I used a lighter weight yarn than called for in the pattern, I had to change up the counts. I used a 4.5 mm crochet hook.
I started with a chain 161 stitches long. This gave me 15 puff stitches on those rows. I completed the whole repeat 11 times, then added the 9 rows of HHDC at the end. This gave me 11 rows of puff stitch. I went around the border twice and like how that looked.
This blanket was really nice to make! It was simple enough that I could really get into a groove, but it had enough interest to me to not get boring. It worked up relatively quickly too. I think it took about two weeks crocheting a couple hours most days. I used 4 skeins of the yarn. However, one of them was a larger one that I bought at least a year ago. It had almost 600 yards compared to the 355 yds in the normal ones. I also had almost a whole 355 yd one left over, so I think just four of the 355 yd ones would be fine. I used the excess to create a matching lovey which turned out incredibly adorable.
I would definitely recommend using Daisy Farm Crafts, and I know I will that site again when I make another baby blanket. Cute, easy to read patterns, what more could you ask for?
