My First Cross Stitch

Writer: Cassidy Cassidy

So I've been wanting to try my hand at cross stitching for a loooong time! Two years ago I bought a needlework set off of a yard sale website. It came with a few different embroidery hoops, some floss cards (I think that's what they are called), needles, a bunch of different colors of floss, and two fairly large pieces of I assume is aida fabric.

I was putting it off, waiting until my queue was empty, or at least nearly empty. As any crafter can attest, that doesn't ever happen. So instead of putting it off yet again, I finally got around to my first attempt at cross stitch. Ta-da!

It was so fun! I really enjoy the methodical nature of it so far. I found a little chart to follow from Spruce Crafts (https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/simple-cross-stitch-for-beginners-4122024) and just got to work. I used these DMC colors: 522, 613, 318, 3012. It worked it really quickly. I'm used to projects taking days, if not weeks or months. In just an evening, I made a whole entire thing. From start to finish! I'm not sure exactly what I'll do with it, but that's a problem for future me. It's not very big, so I feel like framing it would be a bit awkward. We'll see.
